The History of LA Publishing
In 1988, Pamela K. Wiggins wrote the first edition of Why Should I Nurse My Baby?. It was then that LA Publishing was born!
Over the past 18 years we have sold over 1.5 million books to hospitals, doctors’ offices, childbirth educators, midwives, health departments and WIC programs.
LA Publishing is woman-owned, family business. Pam ran the office out of her home for many years. If you ordered a book, she was probably the one who answered the phone! Joe, her husband, and her three children have also been a huge help as the business has grown.
Now, Pam's daughter, Joanna Garofalo, runs the office in her home with her husband Eric. Joanna does all of the sales and office managment. While Eric does all the layout, graphic design and computer work. Now when you call, you are likely to hear the sweet sound of a nursing baby or a toddler's voice in the background! Pam continues to write, revise and supervise the translation of all her books.
Keeping the business in the family has helped to save money. We pass these savings on directly to the customer.
When our company began, Pam's original goal was to teach mothers that breastfeeding is normal and how to be successful. After all these years, our products continue to help parents and their babies. Today, LA Publishing is still a family business who still focuses on Pam’s original goal: to provide quality educational Products at low wholesale prices.
